Daniel Sommer (1850-1940) is one of the more controversial and enigmatic figures in Restoration history. He adamantly opposed innovations like instrumental music and the missionary society, and played a prominent role in the division between the Disciples of Christ who embraced the innovations and the churches of Christ which rejected them.
